Paths Law Firm seeks an Associate Attorney to build a meaningful, client-facing legal career in estate planning, elder law, probate, trust administration, guardianships, tax planning, and related real estate matters. This position is ideal for a new or early-career attorney seeking more than a narrow first-year associate role. The right candidate will receive training and mentorship while gaining early experience working directly with clients and families.

We are seeking an attorney with 0–3 years of experience who is licensed in Missouri or Kansas. No prior experience in estate planning, elder law, probate, or trust administration is required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

The ideal candidate is client-centered, coachable, detail-oriented, dependable, and hardworking. This position requires someone comfortable meeting with clients, communicating clearly with families and fiduciaries, and taking responsibility for legal work from start to finish. The right person will want to learn the law, understand the clients, help move cases forward, and grow into a meaningful role within the firm.

Work Setting
This is an in-office position. The attorney will work from our Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Overland Park, Kansas offices.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney will assist with and eventually handle matters involving:
  • Estate planning, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents
  • Elder law and Medicaid planning
  • Probate administration
  • Trust administration
  • Guardianship and conservatorship matters
  • Tax-related planning issues
  • Real estate-related matters connected to estate and elder law cases
  • Client meetings, document review, drafting, and case management
  • Communication with clients, families, trustees, fiduciaries, courts, agencies, and other professionals

Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri or Kansas, with the ability to obtain both
  • 0–3 years of legal experience
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Willingness to learn new practice areas
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Takes responsibility for assigned matters and follows through
