Florida Insurance Attorneys, an established Florida firm is expanding and seeking an Associate Attorney to support the firm's growth. Florida Insurance Attorneys provides knowledgeable, skilled legal counsel and utilizes top quality resources to back our valued clients. We aim for the best quality service and results for our clients.The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and proven ability to multi-task. First Party Insurance litigation experience is a plus, but not a pre-requisite. We will consider recent graduates but prefer those with 3-5 years' experience for this associate position. We provide on-the-job insurance law training to fast track the new hire's expertise.
We are looking to interview and hire immediately. Compensation is commensurate with Law School achievements, legal aptitude, and relevant experience. Salary structure offered in correlation with performance and productivity.
Ideal Skills:
- Knowledge of first-party insurance litigation.
- Experience in managing paralegals and law clerks.
- Adept in taking and defending depositions of parties, neutral witnesses, and experts.
- Expertise in evaluating case facts, applying applicable law and preparing strategy.
- Trial experience and preparation, not a pre-requisite, but preferred
- Proficient in legal research programs such as Action Step, Westlaw Next, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and a variety of other online resources.
- Substantial experience with attorney software such as Time Matters or Practice Panther
- Strong Computer skills required - proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude.
- Prior legal experience with insurance adjuster or case manager a plus.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- First Party Property Litigation is a plus, but not a pre-requisite
- Ability to adapt and learn independently.
- Spanish or French speaking candidates are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw to support case preparation.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Assist in litigation by preparing case files and organizing evidence.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide legal guidance in various areas, especially property insurance.
- Maintain effective communication with team members, clients, and expert witnesses utilizing Microsoft Office tools for documentation and presentations.
- Conduct depositions, mediations, negotiate settlements and participate in trials.
License/Certification:
- Florida Bar (Required)
- North, Central and Southern Floria Federal District License (Preferred)
