High end, boutique criminal defense law firm is looking for a new attorney to add to its growing practice. The attorney will work hand-in-hand with the firm's attorneys, and will immediately begin working on cases, reviewing discovery, conducting legal research, drafting motions, making court appearances, helping prepare for hearings and trials, etc. This job is ideal for someone who is interested in legal research and writing, with a strong desire to continuously learn and develope knowledge and skills.

We represent clients in white-collar and federal matters, major state felonies, appellate and post-conviction representation, asset forfeiture, and select civil matters. Our attorneys practice in multiple federal jurisdictions around the country and the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft sentencing memoranda
  • Draft pretrial motions such as motions to dismiss, motions to compel, motion to suppress, and bond motions
  • Help prepare for trial, research, and draft jury instructions, motions in limine, and post-trial motions
  • Review and summarize voluminous discovery
  • Draft appellate briefs and post-conviction petitions
  • Limited civil and administrative work

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work independently, be proactive, and have the ability to work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prior work history demonstrating a desire to work in criminal defense, specifically federal criminal defense
  • Prior work history as an appellate attorney or judicial law clerk is preferred but not required
