Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal representation and support to clients in Albany, NY, dealing with family legal matters like divorce, child custody, spousal support, adoption, and other related issues.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare various legal documents, including petitions, motions, and settlement agreements, for cases involving family law and divorce.
  • Advocate for clients in court proceedings, including trials and hearings, ensuring their interests are represented effectively in family law and divorce cases.
  • Offer client counseling services, guiding them on their legal rights, responsibilities, and potential outcomes concerning family law and divorce matters.
  • Manage a caseload of family law and divorce cases, maintaining regular communication with clients to keep them updated on case progress.
  • Participate in negotiation sessions aimed at reaching settlements outside of court and engaging in alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Managing Attorney to foster a supportive work environment and mentor a team of legal professionals.
  • Travel to various courts and proceedings across central New York State, with occasional travel to Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY, as needed.
  • Meet the billable hour requirement set by the firm and work closely with the billing department to ensure precise client billing.

Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of experience in family matrimonial cases, with a preference for such background.
  • A minimum of 1 year of general litigation experience is mandatory for applicants.
  • Holding a membership in good standing with the New York State Bar is a requirement, and memberships in other state bars are advantageous.
