We're seeking a talented and passionate family law associate attorney to join our Virginia practice. As part of our team, you'll play an integral role in delivering compassionate, solutions-oriented strategies to work toward achieving the best possible outcomes for clients and their families. You'll work closely with our experienced family law attorneys, benefiting from their expertise and support while contributing your skills and dedication to our firm's mission. Your primary responsibility will involve handling cases in Northern Virginia.

This role will primarily be based in our downtown Washington, DC, office however meetings may occur throughout Northern Virginia.

  • Represent clients across the full spectrum of family law matters, including divorce, child custody and support, alimony, asset division, domestic violence and prenuptial/postnuptial agreements
  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel and guidance on family law matters
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, agreements and court orders
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and advocate for their best interests in court
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and ensure they're informed about the progress of their case
  • Facilitate mediation sessions to help clients reach amicable agreements without court intervention

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active Virginia law license
  • 2-5 years experience in Virginia family law practice
  • Exceptional legal research, analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and efficiently (as first chair or second chair on a case)
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work from our Washington, DC office
  • Willingness to attend and participate in bar related events
  • Experience developing new clients (preferred)
