Respected high-volume and expanding Virginia Beach law firm seeking to hire an associate attorney with an immediate position opening, handling primarily family law/domestic relations cases as well as misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases on occasion.

The firm's current main practice areas are state, federal and military criminal defense, with a boutique personal-injury caseload. The firm is expanding into a larger office space and seeks to open a domestic relations practice to complement the unique needs of our criminal defense clients as well as new domestic relations clients. The firm is located in the Lynnhaven area of Virginia Beach, but handles civilian cases throughout Greater Hampton Roads, and military matters throughout the country and at military installations worldwide. Three full-time paralegals and an office manager are on staff.

The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years domestic relations law and courtroom litigation experience, and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with significant case-load. Additionally, it is crucial that candidates have both the ability to work independently but also as part of a team within the firm. As indicated, the firm is expanding into domestic relations law, and the ideal candidate will be looking to seize this opportunity to establish a thriving domestic relations practice within the firm. Prior military experience is highly desired, as the majority of the firm's clients are military or have military connections, but is not mandatory. Associate responsibilities will include intake of new consultations, full handling of domestic relations matters from intake through disposition, and trial preparation for pending contested matters in juvenile and domestic relations and circuit court. While the primary practice focus will be on domestic relations, the associate would also have the opportunity to supplement that growing practice with the handling of misdemeanor criminal and traffic matters.

The successful candidate will be provided a fully-furnished office and support staff. Salary will be commensurate with experience, with possibility of performance-based bonuses, and benefits are included.
