Objectives of this Role
  • Represent the elected Prosecuting Attorney with professionalism
  • Maintain good standing and report CLE credits with the Supreme Court of Ohio
  • Participate in professional development opportunities presented by Ohio Prosecuting Attorney Association (OPAA) and the Richland County Bar Association
  • Build and maintain rapport with county elected and appointed officials
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, court staff, defense counsel
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective case management skills

Regular Responsibilities
  • Prosecute felony criminal matters through all stages including but not limited to intake through jury trail
  • Review cases referred by law enforcement for consideration of criminal prosecution
  • Conduct plea negotiations, present arguments and evidence to the Court for pre-trials, motion hearings, sentencing, etc.
  • Meet with witnesses and victims through various stages of case preparation
  • Remote work possible

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • JD from an ABA accredited law school
  • Strong legal research skills and clear and concise legal writing style
  • Organized and eager self-starter with the ability to work on deadline
  • Admission to The Ohio Bar
  • Relevant legal work history

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Notable academic success
  • Demonstratable leadership skills
  • Licensed, actively registered, and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
  • 4 years or more of experience in the practice of law preferred
