The Public Defender Services Commission is seeking applicants for the exempt position of Executive Assistant Public Defender in the Legal Counsel Unit. The Unit represents the Public Defender Services Commission, the Division and its employees in various matters including but not limited to policy matters, contracts, ethics, personnel issues, financial eligibility appeals, Freedom of Information, legislation and malpractice.

The Unit provides direct support to attorneys in the Division regarding ethical issues and representation, as appropriate, and coordinates with the training department to provide training.

The candidate must enjoy working collaboratively within the agency and with other agencies and stakeholders.

This position requires work outside normal business hours during the legislative session.

Qualifications: A law degree from an accredited law school and admitted to the Connecticut Bar and have been actively practicing for at least seven (7) years, which includes but is not limited to trial experience and criminal defense in GA, Juvenile, JD and/or post-conviction proceedings. Management experience is preferred but not required.

Salary: Salary Range is $127,403.00 to $176,167.00 with full State benefits.
