About the role:We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant General Counsel – Commercial to join our North American legal team and play a key role in shaping the success of a dynamic, fast-paced business. In this highly visible role, you will partner closely with legal colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to provide strategic, business-focused legal guidance on a wide range of commercial matters. Based in Beloit, Wisconsin (hybrid preferred, remote considered), this role offers the chance to make meaningful impact while working alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements including, but not limited to, supply and customer agreements, vendor agreements and co-manufacturing agreements.
- Analyse commercial contract provisions and provide the business team with updates, risk assessments and applicable legal guidance.
- Prepare and coordinate responses to customers, vendors and other third parties regarding contractual matters.
- Monitor and keep up to date on the latest developments in food-related laws and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5-10 years in-house or large law firm corporate experience.
- Strong background with complex commercial contracts.
- Demonstrated interest in growing experience in commercial areas.
- Ability to adapt and respond to unpredictable, fast-paced workflows and manage multiple projects at once while prioritizing appropriately.
- Significant attention to detail and ability to interact successfully with business and legal teams, customers and other third parties.
- Experience with food & beverage, food safety, chemicals or regulatory matters preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior analytical skills and the ability to manage client (internal and external) relationships.
