Position Overview:
Are you someone who loves sophisticated transactions and legal issues involving mortgage insurance and risk mitigation strategies? We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented attorney to participate the analysis, drafting and negotiation of mortgage insurance policies, matters and transactions, as well as experience with counterparty credit risk management and document custody issues. In that context, the Single-Family Real Estate Department in the Legal Division of Freddie Mac is seeking a motivated and client-focused attorney to join its legal staff.

Our Impact:
The attorney will be part of the single-family mortgage operations and technology group, primarily working with the mortgage insurance and counterparty credit risk business areas, and providing counsel related to mortgage insurance, document custody and risk mitigation and related matters. This group is part of the SF Real Estate Department in the company's Legal Division, which provides all-around legal support and advice to the Single Family Business area of the company, covering all aspects of residential mortgage underwriting, purchase, delivery, servicing and risk mitigation.
Your Impact:
- Advisory support to internal clients regarding mortgage insurance transactions and policy framework
- Counsel internal clients related to counterparty risk issues, including eligibility standards, risk mitigation strategies, and counterparty monitoring
- Understand Freddie Mac's Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide (including knowledge of representations, warranties, covenants and legal remedies)
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of relevant sophisticated legal experience, either in-house with a bank, mortgage company or real estate company, or with a law firm
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree; membership in good standing in a state Bar
- Excellent analytical, strategic, legal research, writing and advocacy skills
- Ability to effectively manage numerous issues across multiple areas and to set priorities independently
