Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor is required. In addition, a minimum 10 years' experience practicing law, preferably with a law firm or the U.S. government is required.

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position
An Aerospace and Defense Company has an immediate opening for an Assistant General Counsel. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. An Aerospace and Defense Company employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Representative Duties and Tasks:
  • Manages legal issues involving the organization's government and regulatory compliance to help the company assess and avoid legal risk
  • Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken
  • Provides legal advice and counseling to clients on matters as they arise, apprising clients of legal and regulatory concerns and assisting in dispute resolution
  • Performs litigation on the company's behalf or coordinates litigation and other legal matters handled by outside counsel
  • Drafts, revises and reviews contracts, memoranda/letters of understanding/agreement, and letters to customers, vendors, resellers, and others relating to company's rights and obligations
  • Demonstrates experience in general corporate matters, including corporate organization, securities compliance, drafting transactional documents, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, data privacy, risk management asset-backed financing, and/or contract management
  • Manages outside counsel when needed for litigation or other proceedings
  • Provides risk assessments related to employee actions, and investigates and responds to employee complaints
  • May act in place of the VP General Counsel, when VP General Counsel is not available
  • Interaction with:
    • All levels of employees and managers across all functions of the companyOutside counsel representing the company, and opposing the companyGovernment agencies including, but not limited to OFCCP, EEOC, DoL, DCAA, DoD IG, FTC, DoJVendors and customers
  • Travel may be required
  • Expert in the field
  • Serves as external spokesperson for the company

  • While on-site, you will be a part of the Fair Lakes location. Please note, the Fair Lakes building will be transitioned to Chantilly, VA by April 2025.
