Finnegan is seeking 2L 2027 summer associates (JD Class of 2028) to join our Electrical Practice Group in our Boston office.

Summer Associates are exposed to the full range of an intellectual property law practice. Summers receive real work assignments involving litigation, Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, prosecution, licensing, and the drafting of opinions and briefs as well as pro bono opportunities. Summers receive specialized training that complements your legal studies in areas such as legal writing, patent application filing strategies, overview of licensing, and an overview of PTAB and litigation best practices. Summers meet peers drawn from top law schools across the country and have ample opportunity to socialize with Finnegan partners and associates—all in structured circumstances that stress professionalism, training, and development.

The Summer Associate Program is hosted in our Atlanta, Boston, Palo Alto, Reston, or Washington, DC offices.

Weekly compensation is $4,327/week.

Application Criteria
Finnegan seeks Summer Associates with outstanding technical backgrounds in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree. Candidates are required to have superior academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in IP law. Prior industry or patent prosecution experience and patent registration number are a plus.
