Job Overview:The Summer Associate Program is designed to give you hands-on experience in the legal field while helping you expand your skills and explore different areas of law. You will be treated as a professional and entrusted with meaningful work, contributing to complex legal matters alongside attorneys who are passionate about mentoring and guiding you. In addition to valuable legal experience, you'll participate in special seminars on topics like soft skills, the business of law firms, and legal industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with attorneys on challenging, high-impact legal matters
- Gain experience with a variety of patent prosecution assignments, including claim drafting and responding to Office actions
- Engage in research, drafting memos, briefs, and other legal documents
- Participate in client meetings, hearings, and case strategy sessions
- Explore specific areas of legal interest with ample guidance and support
- Attend firm events, seminars, and networking opportunities to build professional connections
- Participate in planned social activities to foster relationships with fellow summer associates and attorneys
Qualifications:
- First-year law student enrolled at an American Bar Association-accredited law school
- Undergraduate degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Software
- Strong academic performance in both undergraduate and law school coursework
- Genuine interest in pursuing a legal career at Armstrong Teasdale
- Demonstrated personal and professional achievements
- Passion, curiosity, and approachability, with a willingness to learn and be coached
